trough
Big Watering Trough. Known to have existed prior to the completion of the National Pike, the tavern and watering trough were a "Rest Area" for
travelers to water their horses. With the invention of the automobile, it became a place for eastbound motorists to add water to their overheated radiators and westbound motorists to allow their brakes to cool before
continuing their descent into Hopwood. Destroyed by fired in the late 1900s, the trough remains, fed by a natural spring. Contributed by E. M. Whetsel
