Circa 1920. The J. V. Thompson residence, located on Rt 40, west of Uniontown. Now called Mt. St. Macrina, it is the Mother House for the sisters of the Order of St. Basil. Many of the original buildings remain on several hundred acres of property, as well as a nursing home and cemetery. (Thompson, one of Fayette County's many coal barons is said to have died penniless.) Contributed by E. M. Whetsel
