STATE RESOURCES and HELPFUL URLs

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is now requiring all requests for birth and death records to be done on new forms that have the requester sign a release that they are who they say they are. The old forms are no longer acceptable and will be returned.

The Pennsylvania resource for Vital Statistics, State Archives, Land Records, Women's History, Birth Indices, Death Indices, Coal Miners, Indentured Servants, Prison Records, and Ships' Passenger Lists (to name a few) can be found at... https://www.phmc.pa.gov/Pages/default.aspx

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ... in pursuit of good health. If the birth/death occurred before 1906, contact the Courthouse in the county where the event occurred. Also, ALL requests for marriage and divorce records should be directed to the County Courthouse in which the marriage license or divorce decree was issued.
