Grove City High School

Orpheus

One of the outstanding features of the musical life of our High School is the Orpheus under the leadership of Miss Selkirk Burgess.

It was organized in 1913 and each year since then has done something for the benefit of our school either by way of a cantata, concert, or operetta.

Last year [1924] the Orpheus gave a concert which included a cantata “The Wreck of the Hesperus” and a number of dramatic sketches representing different nations. This program, although different from previous years, met with great success. Some of the leading persons who took part were Dorothy Allen, Richard VonEnde and James McCrea.
