THE HIGH SCHOOL ORCHESTRA

In the year 1913 was seen the organization of a Junior orchestra, which was the foundation of the Senior orchestra. When the Junior orchestra’s first concert was announced many of their relatives and friends attended and were held spellbound (?) by the weird and mysterious sounds which emerged from this group. Nevertheless, through the clouds were seen a ray of hope and the Senior—a more advanced orchestra - produced.

As has been the custom, the orchestra has given annual performances for the purpose of entertaining and buying new material for the advancement of the orchestra. Through proceeds for the 1923 Concert, a trip to Pittsburgh to hear the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, was enjoyed by all.

As each member of the orchestra has developed at least two ways for entertaining, the programs are not lacking in diversion. This year a double-bass is being purchased with the entertainment money.

We are proud of many of our at-one-time orchestra members but we still look to a brighter future. We believe in “not pushing backwards but always ahead.”
