THE SEASON 1923-24
One
of the most impressive records ever made by a Grove City High School
Basket Ball team was completed this year by our squad. The squad lost
only six games out of sixteen and took over some of the strongest
quintets in this section.
At home they were defeated by Kittanning, Oil
City, and Sharpsville, and away they lost to Oil City, Kittanning and
Farrell. Two victories were scored against Greenville and New Castle. Coach
Filer is to be congratulated on the success of the season.

MERCER
COUNTY TOURNAMENT
The
Mercer County Tournament was held at Grove City on March 5, 6, 7, and 8,
1924. Grove City was a heavy favorite. They played their old rival,
Sharpsville, the second night of the tournament, both Sharpsville and
Grove City being idle the first night. Grove City won easily with a
score of 24-16. Then, on the third night the Gold and White tossers
encountered Farrell. Farrell was in better condition than the Grove City
boys and won the game. Score 28-16.
The
last night, Farrell played Greenville in the final game and Greenville
won the game by one point. This gave Greenville the cup for the year. |
