Lookups are off-line resources that volunteers are willing to look in for folks visiting the USGenWeb Greene County Web Page. Visitors

This forum is provided for where people who are interested in Greene County research and have materials may make contact and provide information to others who are searching. In many counties, the county coordinator lists themselves in the lookups list, but you shouldn't feel obligated to do lookups for the county you host.

GREENE COUNTY MARRIAGE LOOK-UPS Linda Goddard Stout. Marriages Compiled from Greene County, Pennsylvania Records, 1780-1885, by Richard G. and Malvine B. Zollars.
Although Greene County was formed February 9, 1796, there were no marriages recorded at the courthouse until 1885. The marriage records in this book were obtained solely from Greene County records. The work is divided into two parts.  The first part consists of marriages transcribed from the Waynesburg Republican Newspaper. The second part of this book is composed of marriages from records of Ministers of the Gospel, Justices of the Peace, Bible Records, Journals kept by county residents, Revolutionary War Pension Records and newspaper obituaries. There are two short lists of marriages which are undocumented.-- This information is from the "Introduction" of the Zollars' book.

This book covers the time period of 1780-1885.

Nola Elliott. I have "The History of Greene County Pennsylvania" by BATES published in 1888 and will be willing to do lookups from this book. It contains many families from Greene County, Pennsylvania. The book is also available for sale from either the Society or the Closson Press, 1935 Sampson Drive, Apollo, PA 15613.

Jan Freeman. "The Family of Robert Jones Evans and Nancy Corbley Gregg with Evans-Gregg-Lynn-Corbley-Jones Ancestry and Descendants. I would be glad to look up anyone you feel might be listed in this publication.  The book was compiled and published by Mary Evans Bear in 1938, Chicago.

Our Scots-Irish Heritage: The Cummins Family in America by Janet Sutherland Aronson, 1999.  The Huggins Families of Western Pa and Northern WVa. by Charles E. Huggins, 1987
Jan Freeman. The Evans Tree by E. Ray Evans
HEADLEE family. Gail Headlee. I'm willing to do lookups from "A History of the Headley and Headlee Families" by Ray L. Headlee, copyright 1959, described by the author as "a genealogical record of the various Headley and Headlee families, founded in southwestern Pennsylvania, and parts of the adjacent areas of West Virginia and Ohio, (Mostly descendants of Richard Headlee), in the latter part of the eighteenth century, as well as many of the families intermarried therewith." It focuses on the descendants of Ephraim Headlee b 1758 and Mary Fordyce b 1763 from the late 1700s to the mid 1900s, and has limited information on other descendants of Richard Headlee b abt 1690. It also includes brief ancestries for the related surnames Fordyce and Keener.
HICKMAN family. Howard Hickman. "The Descendants of Robert and Mary Hickman of Greene County, Pennsylvania", 2nd Edition. Robert Hickman and wife Mary Magdalene Livengood and their children Nancy Vandruff, Elizabeth Renner, Samual Hickman, Abraham Hickman and Cassandra Nichols lived all their lives in Greene County. The book is a compiliation of over 2,000 of their descendants. The author is interested in sharing family information and will do a free look-up for anyone who e-mails a message.

WHITE family. Rev. Robert R. Barr. I have compiled what information I have on Whites for the counties of Greene Co., Allegheny Co., & Washington Co. Pa. and concerning families known to have lived there prior to 1900 for the White Family Library. We are constantly updating them as new information is obtained. The summaries are available by contacting me at Whitefmly2@AOL.COM and specifying which counties you are interested in. I am also available to do lookups from the information in the White Family Library which contains over 200 White Family histories.
