Orphan's Court held at Chambersburg in and for the county of Franklin on the
third monday and nineteenth day of January? in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and eighteen, before the honorable James Hamilton
Esq. ??? and Archibald Bard and Isaac Eaton Esq. associates, Judges of our
said court.

Petition and affidavit the court did appoint Joseph Culbertson, guardian of
Robert, James Finley, Alexander ????? and William Culbertson minor children
of the said Joseph and under the age of fourteen years for the purpose ???
taking care of their proportion of the estate of their Grand-father James
Finley.

Petition of James Finley one of the children and heirs at law of James
Finley Esq late of Green township decd petitions that late father James
Finley died leaving a widow since decd and issue eight children, viz,
Samuel, John, James (the petitioner), William since deceased without issue,
Elizabeth now deceased (leaving two children by her late husband Stephen
Duncan) viz Jane intermarried with Moses Moore & Polly intermarried with
Edmund Waller?, Isabella intermarried with James Galbreath, Molly (late wife
of Joseph Culbertson) which sd Molly is since decd leaving five children to
wit Robert, James, Alexander, Cyrus and William all of whom are minors) and
Jane late wife of Samuel Armstrong Rippey which sd S.A. Rippey is since decd
the sd James Finley d. seized of tract in LittleKenny twp adj. Frederick
Hess, land of heirs of John Finley decd and other land that belonged to sd
James Finley dec, containing twenty seven acres & allowance, that the sd
James Finley did on 14 Feb. 1809 make his last will and testament which is
duly registered in the proper office for that purpose in the said county of
Franklin. The above described premises of land was acquired by the said
James Finley decd by purchase subsequently to the making of his said last
will and testament - And of the same no disposition was made by the said
will ... (similar to earlier petition in Orphan's Court Book A:416-417).
