Martha Finley and James Finley appointed guardians
5 June 1759, Cumberland County, PA, Orphans Court, Book 1:25.
At an Orphans Court held at Carlisle for the County of Cumberland the fifth
day of June Anno Domini 1759, Before Francis West, John McNought and Davis
Wilson Esq. Justices of the Court of Common Pleas for said County.
Came into court Martha Finley one of the administrators of John Finley late
of Cumberland County deceasd who died Intestate and prayed that Guardians
may be appointed over minor children of the said Intestate it is therefore
considered by the Court and the said Martha Finley and James Findley are
appointed Guardian over Elizabeth Finley Andrew Finley and Samuel Finley
minor children of the said John Finley deceased during their minority

At an Orphans Court held at Carlisle for Cumberland County the fifth day of
May 1762 Before Thomas Willson, William Spear and John Montgomery, Esq
Justices of the same Court.
Came into Court Martha Finley Widow and relict of John Finley late of
Cumberland County deceased and prayed the Court that some proper person
might be appointed guardian over the Person and Estate of Michael, John,
Andrew and Samuel Finley, minor orphan children of the said decd. It is
therefore considered by the Court & William Irwin is accordingly appointed
Guardian over the persons and Estates of the same Minors during their
minority ...
Came into Court Elizabeth Finley a minor orphan daughter of John Finley late
of Cumberland County decd being above the age of fourteen and chose for her
Guardian over her person the Estate during her minority Samuel McCune of
whom this Court approve ....
