RAILROAD STOPS IN DIFFERENT YEARS
A. F. COLANGEL, Veteran Local Merchant, Dies
Retired car inspector for the
Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad
Archille F. (Kelly) COLANGEL, 69, of 416 Knox avenue [sic], Monessen,
proprietor of the Italian Food Srore, Donner avenue, and a merchant in Monessen
for the past 35 years died suddenly this morning at 3:15 a.m. at his home.
He was born July 16, 1887, in Bugnari, Italy and came to the United States in
1903 settling in Glassport. He came to Monessen in 1907 and went into
business in 1921. He was also a retired car inspector for the
Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad with whom he was employed for 49 years.
He was a member of the St. Cajetan R. C. Church and the Monessen Lodge,
Sons of Italy.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary COLANGEL; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph
M. (Virginia) DUDAS, Jr.; one grandson; two brothers, Rome [COLANGEL], of
Monessen; Florindo [COLANGEL], of McKees Rocks; two sisters, Rose [COLANGEL]
of Connecticut and Cecilia [COLANGEL] in Italy.
Friends will be received at the Perry A. Cozza Funeral Home, Reed avenue
after 7 o'clock this evening. Funeral home visiting hours will be from 1 to 5
and 7 to 10 p.m.
Services will be held Saturday with brief rites at the funeral home at
10:15 a.m. followed by a solemn requiem high mass at 10:45 a.m. at the St.
Cajetan R. C. Church with the Rev. Nunzio PIROLLI officiating. Interment
will be in Grandview Cemetery.
