Blacksmiths raise prices 1916
From the Charleroi Mail newspaper from May 12, 1916,
Blacksmiths article:
MASTER BLACKSMITHS RAISE PRICES ON WORK
At a meeting of the master blacksmiths of Local No. 82, composed of Donora, Charleroi, West
Newton,Monessen, Roscoe and Monongahela was held at Monongahela this week, it was decided to raise the prices on some of the work. Horseshoeing was raised on No. 6, 7 and 8 shoes. Heretofore the price was $2.00 per four shoes but under the new arrangement an additional 50 cents will be charged. The reason for the advance the blacksmiths state, is the raise in the cost of shoes and nails.
