The officials of the Maryland penitentiary have united in a petition
for a pardon for John MURRAY, who was convicted of murder in the second
degree. His term is about to expire and a formal petition will
save his citizenship.

Henry CHRIST and Miss Eva HERKOMER, of New Hyde Park, N. Y., while
driving to church together were struck by a train. The man was
killed [i.e. he died instantly] and the woman fatally injured. [i.e. she
died later]
Conductor Z. L. AVERY, of the Sixth Avenue Elevated road [i.e.
overhead subway], in New York, was crushed to death under the wheels of
the engine which had been attached to his own train.
