10. Iron/Steel Production of the Powers, 1890-1938
Note the small 1 million ton increase of pig-iron for 1890-1900, then the
steady increases of 10 million tons every decade from 1900 through 1930.
However, with the Great Depression, steel production took a big hit over the 8
years of the 1830s, dropping by at least 13 million tons in that period.
Britain also struggled but with their lower numbers overall, they kept a
fairly average rate in millions of tons per every 10 years.
