9. Per Capita Levels of Industrialization, 1880-1938

Notice how US doubles its per capita industrialization between 1880 and 1900, then has a lower growth rate measured in 1913 and 1928.

The Long Depression occurred from  1873–79.  The Depression of 1882–85 or Recession of 1882–85 in the United States lasted from March 1882 to May 1885.  (Many ordinary US citizens went bankrupt.)

"World War One" ("The Great War", First World War) began July 28, 1914 and lasted until November 11, 1918.  There were over 17 million deaths and 20 million wounded, ranking it among the deadliest conflicts in human history. The total number of deaths includes about 10 million military personnel and about 7 million civilians. Of the 4,355,000 Total United States Mobilized Forces, 116,516 US soldiers were killed; 204,002 were wounded, and 4,500 became prisoners or MIA.

Men going overseas affected the potential for higher industrialization per capita in the US during those years.  When men returned home, industry recovered slowly, especially in rural areas.  But within another decade, another financial disaster would come.

The Great Depression began in August 1929, culminating October 24, 1929 with The Wall Street Crash of 1929.
