The Will of Mary Polly (HOOTMAN) PARKINSON of Nottingham Twp, 1869

MARY “POLLY” DICKEY PARKINSON (abt 1787-1869)

Polly was the daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Dickey) Parkinson of Nottingham Twp. David Hootman, whom she appoints as executor of the will, was her brother-in-law.

Will Book 9, p. 380

In the name of God Amen. I Mary or Polly Parkinson of Nottingham Township in the county of Washington and State of Pennsylvania being in feeble health of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say I order that all my just debts funeral expenses and charges of proving this my will be in the first place fully paid and satisfied and after payment thereof and every part thereof I give and bequeath to Anderson Hootman the sum of one hundred dollars and further I do will and bequeath the remainder of my property and effects unto David Hootman and Nancy Hill to be divided equally between the [illegible].

And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint David Hootman of Nottingham Township and county of Washington and State of Pennsylvania Executor of this my will.

In witness whereof I the said testator Polly Parkinson have to this my last will and testament Set my hand and Seal the eighteenth day of March A.D. 1867.

Signed Sealed and declared by the said testator Polly Parkinson as and for her last will and Testament, in the presence of us who in her presence and at her request have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

Then personally appeared Joseph Kammerer one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing last will and testament of Polly Parkinson deceased, and on his solemn oath did say that he was present, and did see and hear Polly Parkinson of Nottingham Twp, deceased, the testatrix therein named, sign, seal, publish and declare the same as and for her last will and testament, and that at the doing thereof she was of sound, disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of the affiant's knowledge and belief.

Sworn and subscribed before me on the day and year aforesaid [signed] George Buchanan, Register

And at the same time came Adrew [sic] Gamble, who after being duly qualified according to law, deposeth and saith that he is well acquainted with the handwriting of John Berry, one of the witnesses to the above will of Polly Parkinson, decd and that the signature to said will as witness purporting to be that of John Berry is genuine and that said John Berry is now decd. [signed] Andrew Gamble 

And now February 15th 1869 it being adjudged that the said will has been duly proven, & the Execr named therein having refused to serve as Execr Letters d.b.n.c.tea [?] are issued to Andrew Gamble who on same day was sworn by George Buchanan, Regr.
