Article of Agreement
by
Sam'l Amspoker's Heirs
Estate of Samuel Ampoker, deceased. Orphan's Court County of Washington No. 26,
O.C. 1881. Partition. Whereas by virtue of an alias order of the said Court issued to
Samuel Amspoker, Trustee, he did on the 17th day of February 1883, offer at Public Sale
the Real Estate of said deceased situate in Hanover Township in said County, adjoining lands of Robert Curry, Grant Hanlin and others. Containing about: One hundred and forty Acres and sold the same to Thomas B. Strain at and for the sum of Four Thousand Five Hundred
($4500) dollars to vz. paid as follows, to wit: Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1500) on the
confirmation by the Court and the balance in two equal annual payments thereafter with
interest at six percent per ________. And whereas it is agreed between the widowand heirs of the said Samuel Amspoker deceased That upon the confirmation of said sale by the Court the purchase money paid at said confirmation and as it falls due shall be equally divided between the children of the said Samuel Amspoker and his widow Mrs. E. C. A. Wright she the said [Mrs.] E. C. A. Wright taking an equal share with the children and in consideration there at sale ____g her dower in said land or purchase money. Viz, Therefore it is agreed by and between Maggie A. Amspoker in testament with William Porter, Irene Amspoker, intermarried with Thomas B. Strain, Eunice Amspoker, intermarried with J. P. Hluie, Ella E. Amspoker intermarried with David Strain, and Samuel Ampspoker children of Samuel Ampspoker deceased and Mrs. E. C. A. Wright (widow) of said deceased that the purchase money arising from the sale of the Real Estate of the said Samuel Ampspoker and payable as aforsaid (sic) shall be equally divided among the children and widow aforsaid (sic) each taking the one sixth (1/6) thereof after deducting the cost of said proceedings in court. And in consideration thereof the said Mrs. E. C. A. Wright widow of the said Samuel Amspoker deceased hereby release the said Estate of the said Samuel Amspoker from all claim or right of dower which she has or had in the said Real Estate or in the purchase money arising from the sale of the same by virtue of said order of Court. William Wallace Porter, William Porter’s grandson, married Hannah Margaret
Amspoker. Her father was Samuel Amspoker. When he died a land sale was in the works. Though the will I have children’s names and can follow the widow’s remarriage. This is all I have on the family so far.
