Married MARY MAGDALENA HUFFMASTER born August 10, 1832; died December 25, 1893. Both are buried in Fairview Cemetery, Dushore, Pa.

Henry Stiff of Cherry Township, died Monday, August 13, aged 67 years.

Funeral today (Thursday) and interment at Bahr’s Hill. Mr. Stiff was a native of England, had been in this country since a young man, and was very much respected by all who knew him.

Mrs. Mary Stiff of Cherry died December 25th at the age of 61 years. The remains were interred at Fairview Cemetery December 27.

Miss Mary A. Stiff died Sunday night at 10:30 at the home of Sevellan Corson from injuries received during the storm a few minutes before.

She was 68 years of age and is survived by one brother, Aaron Stiff of Cherry.

The remains were taken to the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Wm. Stiff, from whose home the funeral was held today, Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. A. Ward Campbell officiating. Interment was made in the Bahr Hill cemetery.

Aaron Stiff, a well-known citizen of Cherry Township, passed away Friday evening March 1st, at the home of his nephew, Russell Stiff. His end came unexpectedly although he was not enjoying the best of health. Mrs. William Stiff and family entertained him often and nothing was thought of his complaint of illness until he took to his bed.

Uncle Aaron was a good worker in his day; labored on his own farm, and at intervals helped his neighbors. No dishonest deed, or act of trespass or law violation can be mentioned in connection with his name. Sober and industrious, he minded his own affairs. With him passes the last of the family of the Stiff brothers and sisters. His age was 71 years 10 months and 14 days. Interment in Fairview Cemetery.

Funeral was held Monday afternoon. Rev. William H. Fehr officiated.

JOHN BENJAMIN STIFF (Henry Stiff) born December 30, 1859; died May 26,1917

John Benjamin Stiff died Saturday May 26 at his home in Cherry township at the age of 57 years, 4 months, and 25 days. Mr. Stiff was a quiet, unassuming neighbor and closely devoted to his work on the farm. He is survived by one sister Mary and one brother Aaron, both of Cherry. Funeral service was held Monday afternoon at the house with interment at Bahr Hill. Rev. W.H. Fehr officiating.

William Stiff died at his home in Cherry township Monday, December 28. He had been sick for nearly a year with complication of diseases.
The funeral services were held at the home, Thursday, December 31, the remains being taken to Bahr Hill cemetery for interment.
He is survived by his widow, one son and four daughters. Two brothers and one sister also survive.

Mrs. Allie Stiff, widow of the late William Stiff of Cherry Township, died Friday, February 4th, at her home following a short illness.

She was born October 20, 1874, a daughter of the late William and Sarah Gansel Kinsley and was united in marriage with the late William Stiff on February 6, 1895, and went to live on the farm where she has since resided.

Mrs. Stiff was a kind and helpful neighbor and friend, and her death brings a deep sense of loss to all who knew her.

She is survived by three daughters, Miss Rebecca Stiff at home; Mrs. Lena Fitzgerald and Mrs. Zora Yonkin of Cherry township; also twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren, also two sisters, Mrs. Arch Weaver of Cherry township and Mrs. Mary Martin of Homer, N.Y.; an aunt, Mrs. Flora Erdred of California and an uncle Daniel Gansel of Cawker City, Kansas.

Funeral services were held from her late home Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. John D. keener, pastor of Zion Evangelical Lutheran church of which she was a member, officiated.

Interment in the family plot in Fairview cemetery.

REBECCA ELIZABETH STIFF (William, Henry) born February 6, 1897; died January 25, 1977.

She was engaged to Lloyd Crawford who died of pneumonia while onboard a transport to France in World War One, but never married following his death.

Rebecca Elizabeth Stiff 79, of 139 Carpenter St. Dushore, died Jan. 25, 1977 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.

She was born Feb. 6, 1897 in Cherry Twp. Sullivan Co. a daughter of the late William and Alice Kinsley Stiff. She was a lifetime resident of Sullivan County, and was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Zion Chapel, in Dushore.

She began her employment with the Dushore Silk Mill at the age of 16 and stayed there until it closed in the late 1920’s she then worked for a period of time at the Weldon Factory in Lopez, and then returned to the Sull-Craft in Dushore until 1964 when she retired.

Her survivors include one sister, Mrs. Lena Fitzgerald of RD 2 Dushore and 12 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 28 at 10:30 a.m. in the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, Dushore. The Rev. Edgar C. Reed, her pastor, will officiate.

Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Dushore.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations or contributions be made to the Zion Chapel Memorial Fund in Dushore.

Miss Ada Stiff died Wednesday morning at the home of her mother in Cherry township following a short illness at the age of 24 years.

She is survived by her mother Mrs. Alice Stiff, three sisters, Mrs. John Fitzgerald of Cherry township and Misses Rebecca and Zora Stiff and one brother, Russell Stiff, at home.

Funeral services will be held from her late home Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock with interment in he Bahr Hill cemetery.

Married James Fitzgerald on June 1, 1920. He was born August 27, 1897; died January 11, 1965.

Lena Fitzgerald, 80, of Dushore died March 28, 1981, at the home of her son, Peter, of Sugar Run, Pa.
She was born in Cherry Township, Sullivan County, on January 13, 1901, a daughter of the late William and Allie Kinsley Stiff. She attended the Cherry Township School and married James Fitzgerald on June 1, 1920.
She and her husband were engaged in farming for many years and she also worked for the Weldon Manufacturing Co. of Lopez and later for Dushore Lingerie, retiring in 1970. Mr. Fitzgerald died in 1965.

She was a member of St. Basil's Roman Catholic Church in Dushore and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.

Surviving are sons, Edward and Joseph of Dushore; James of Raeford NC; Paul of West Burlington; Patrick of Reno, NV; William of Fayetteville, NC; and Peter of Sugar Run, PA; daughters, Mrs. Catherine Muller and Mrs. Helen Tourscher, both of Dushore; sister Theresa Fitzgerald I.H.M. of Williamsport and Mrs. Celia Burke of Horseheads, NY; 42 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Tuesday morning from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, Dushore, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Basil's Cemetery, Dushore with the Rev. Eugene R. Carr officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.

ZORA STIFF (William, Henry Stiff) born April 19, 1902 died June 1973.

Married ERNEST YONKIN. He was born July 14, 1897, son of Levi Yonkin and died September 12, 1984.

RUSSELL WILLIAM STIFF (William, Henry Stiff) died January 3, 1931

Married Sadie Wheeler, born about 1910; she subsequently married Freeman Bennett, who died in 1953, and Lester Munn.

Russell William Stiff, residing on the old homestead in Cherry Township, was fatally injured while working in the Connell Mines last Friday January 2. He was removed to the Robert Packer Hospital where he died the next day. He was only twenty-six years old, leaving a wife, formerly Sadie Wheeler, and one small daughter Ada Elizabeth, besides his mother Allie Stiff and three sisters, Rebecca, Lena and Zora to mourn his departure.

Mr. Stiff was an industrious, upright neighbor and a ready and willing helper wherever there was help needed. He was a communicant member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dushore. His funeral was held on Monday January 6 at 1 o’clock from his late residence, Rev. W.H. Fehr officiating.

The Lutheran choir rendered the funeral service including two hymns "Come ye dissolute" and "Abide with Me.".

Despite the blustery day and drifting snow, the people of the entire neighborhood and his associates in the mines where he had worked were present, paying a last tribute to the beloved brother deceased.

Sadie E. Munn, 76, of Wilmot Township, Bradford County, Wyalusing RD, died June 10, 1986, at the Laporte United Methodist Home.

She was born March 30, 1910, in Wilmot, a daughter of Willard and Adeline Friedenberg Wheeler. She was a lifetime resident of Wilmot and a member of St. John's Chapel, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Russell Stiff, who died in 1930; and Freeman Bennett, who died in 1953. She married Lester Munn in 1959. Surviving are her husband; one daugher, Mrs. Ernest (Ada) Huffmaster of Wyalusing RD; a son Eugene Bennett of Wyalusing RD; a stepson, Gerald Munn of Florida; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Chapel in Wilmot with Rev. Richard A. Reeser officiating. Burial will be in the Wyalusing Cemetery. Friends may call at the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, Dushore, tonight from 7 to 9 and at St. John's from 10 a.m. Friday.

The Lutheran Church of Dushore was the scene of a quiet wedding Thursday evening, December 1, at 8:30 o'clock when Miss Ada Elizabeth Stiff, daughter of Mrs. Freeman of Wyalusing RD 3, became the bride of Ernest Earl Huffmaster of Dushore RD 1. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. John D. Keener, pastor of the church. The bride wore an attractive navy blue street length dress with gold accessories.

Mrs. Huffmaster is a graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School, class of 1948. The couple are now residing at Dushore RD 1.
