We can be sure that turkeys just like these flocked the
forests when the Hunsingers first emigrated to this area from Luzerne County.

It is not feasible to send out complete printouts of this material, since each issue would be almost 900 single sheet pages. However, Dick will distribute on request a printout of a direct line of ancestors back to the immigrant, if available, for specific individuals requested. Generation No. 1
1. JOHAN JURG HUNTZINGER (BERNARD (GEORGE), JOHANN GEORG) was born July 16, 1775, and died February 20, 1855 in Forks Twp., Sullivan Co., PA. He married MARY ANN (__) about 1796 .
Notes for JOHAN JURG HUNTZINGER:
Lived for a while in Berwick, PA from where he moved to to the Genesee country in New York. Finding the country subject to fevers he returned to Berwick and from there to Sullivan Co., PA (From Streby's History of Cherry Township, 1903, page 37.) 1810 census shows him living in The Town of Hector, Seneca Co., New York. Census shows 3 males under age 10, 1 male age 11 to 15, 1 male 21 to 45 and 1 female under age 10, 2 female 11 to 15 and 1 female 21 to 45 (31010-12010). This was the Finger Lake region then called the "Genesee Country. The town of Hector was part of the Military Tract (land given by New York state to their Revolutionary War veterans) and many of the men promptly sold their lands cheaply. Hector is now part of Schuyler Co., N.Y. In 1819 he settled on Ringer Hill and and in 1823 he bought land for $3.00 an acre. He was among the earliest settlers in Cherry Township, Sullivan Co.. **He took up land near the southwestern corner of the present boundary of the township along the old turnpike. By him and his sons the first clearings were made on the ridge between the two branches of the Loyalsock creek. ** (from Egle's Notes and Queries of PA 1700s-1800s, Fourth Series Volume II.)
Sponsors at baptism were Jurg & Anna Huntzinger.

Millview cemetery is located 9.8 miles West of Rt. 220 on Rt. 87 just south of Dushore, in Forks Twp., Sullivan Co., PA It is on the left side of Rt. 87 just off the road before you get into small Boro of Millview.
His fatherJohan Jurg, lived with him when, from the infirmities of age, as he was unable to provide for himself.
James Campbell also lived with them for a period (as stated in census) and worked as a carpenter. George Hunsinger was in lumber business of some type besides farming. George Hunsinger started a saw mill on Lick creek in about 1848 and quit claimed it to Thomas Coggins 24 February 1849 for $190.00. The handed down family info suggests that James Campbell married one of George's daughters (who we don't know) and either she died, or died from child birth or maybe a divorce, but that is doubtful as both families remained close friends for years.
