Married Susannah Bahr on April 17, 1860 and divorced March 4, 1903 She was born April 17, 1843; died July 19, 1905 buried in Peace cemetery, Dushore, Pa.

John S. Hartzig died Tuesday morning, May 23rd at the home of his son, George Hartzig at
Cherry Mills.
Mr. Hartzig was a life-long resident of Cherry Township. He was born May 6, 1838, died
May 23rd, having reached the age of 95 years and 17 days.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lewis W. Yonkin of Allentown, Mrs. William Shaffer of
this place, one son, George Hartzig of Cherry Mills, also eight grandchildren, six great-
grandchildren and four great great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Hannah Rohe of Overton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at the Reformed Church at 10 o’clock.

George I. Hartzig of Cherry Mills passed away at midnight Tuesday, January 11th at
the Robert Packer hospital at Sayre at the age of 87 years and 10 months.
Mr. Hartzig was born in Cherry Township, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John S. Hartzig, and
has spent all his life in this community.
On Monday he was engaged in cutting fire wood wand when he did not appear for dinner it
was found that he had suffered a stroke while at work. He was taken to the Robert Packer
hospital in the Tubach ambulance, where he passed away without recovering consciousness.
For many years Mr. Hartzig operated a sawmill at Cherry Mills and was very active in
the affairs of his community. He was a member of the Farmers’ and Mechanic’s Fire Insurance
Company of Forksville, acting in capacity of surveyor for the company for a number of years.
He also held many township offices during his life

Mrs. Emma Hartzig, aged 96, lifelong Dushore resident, died Wednesday evening.
Mrs. Hartzig was born November 28, 1863, in Dushore, the daughter of Henry and Lydia
Shaffer Fulmer. She was the widow of George Hartzig and was a member of the Zion Lutheran
Church, Dushore.
Surviving are a grandson, Willard Hartzig of Stafford, VA; a granddaughter, Mrs. Ruth
Talbert of Chicago; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews. A son, Ernest, died in 1955
Prayer services will be held at the A.L. Tubach Funeral Home in Dushore Monday afternoon
at 1:15. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 in the Zion Lutheran Church, Dushore.
Rev. H. Joseph Slusser will officiate and interment will be in Fairview cemetery, Dushore.

Funeral service for Ernest Hartzig, 66, whose body was found in the Little Loyalsock Creek,
were held from the Holcombe Funeral Home, Monday morning, Rev. C. B. Meyers, officiated.
Mr. Hartzig's body was discovered by a party of hunters from Reading, late Friday afternoon
Dec. 12, about four miles north of Forksville. The body was taken to the Robert Packer
hospital where a post mortem revealed that death was from heart attack or shock.
Mr. Hartzig was living alone on the John Cook farm near Cherry Mills, and had traps set
in the creek for catching muskrats. The investigation was conducted by the State Police and
Coroner Gale Worthington.
There were conflicting reports as to when the Dushore RD man may have met death, several
persons reporting they had seen the man on Thursday while others claimed he had not been
seen since the preceding day.
Mr. Hartzig is survived by his mother, Mrs. George I. Hartzig, his wife, Edna of Michigan,
a daughter Mrs. Ruth Talbert of Des Plaines, Il, a son Willard Hartzig of Canton, and four
grandchildren.

Married 1st Ralph J. Stine on December 5, 1933. They had a child, Kenneth George Stine, who died one day after
his birth on November 13, 1934. He is buried at Bahr Hill (Fairview) Cemetery in Dushore, PA.

Miss Ruth M. Hartzig, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hartzig was married to Mr.
Ralph J. Stine, Tuesday December 5th at the Hartzig home in Cherry Mills, in the presence of
close friends, near neighbors and relatives.
The bride’s pastor, the Rev. William H. Fehr of Dushore, officiated. Unique was the fact
that the best man and the bridesmaid were the bride’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George
Hartzig, who were married on the same date fifty-one years ago. The happy occasion thus had
a double significance.
We felicitate both couples. A very fine and sumptuous wedding dinner was served. The
guests present were: Mrs. Florence Stine, mother of the groom; Miss Gladys Stine, sister
of the groom; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hartzig, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hartzig, Mrs. Caroline Bowman,
Mr. and Mrs. Worth Dieffenbach and daughter, Samuel O. Fulmer Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Coleman
Weisbrod, Quentin L. Weisbrod, Miss Frances Rohe, Mrs. William H. Fehr, Miss Alma Cook
and Mrs. Henry Fulmer.

Charles S. Hartzig died at his home in Cherry Twp, Wed. Morning December 15,
1897 aged 34 years 10 months; a wife and several children (survive); interment Peace Church,
Friday.

Mrs. Jennie Kraus, wife of Fred Kraus of Waverly, formerly of this place, died Monday,
June 10, at her home on Chemung Street, following an extended illness, at the age of 63.
Mrs. Kraus was born in Cherry Township, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hartzig.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Esther Hagerman and Mrs. Nettie Kordinak
of Waverly; two sons Charles Kraus of Pine City and Jerry Kraus of Waverly; eight
grandchildren and one great grandchild
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the Presbyterian Church of which she was a member. Rev. Thomas Tighe, pastor officiated. Burial in Forest Home cemetery.

Mrs. William Shaffer died Friday, June 26 at her home in Dushore, at the age of 67 years
and 11 months, after an illness of 13 years.
She was a daughter of the late John Hartzig and is survived by her husband William Shaffer,
one daughter, Mrs. G.M. Ashbrooke of Cleveland, Ohio, One son Arthur Shaffer of Johnson City,
N.Y. and one sister and brother, Mrs. Lewis Yonkin of Allentown, Pa, and Geo. Hartzig of
Cherry Township.
Funeral services were held at her home at 10 o'clock Monday morning, with interment in Bahr Hill cemetery

Mrs. Minerva Ann Yonkin of 623 Greenleaf street, Allentown, died Friday morning in
Allentown Hospital at the age of 77.
Mrs. Yonkin was born in Dushore, the daughter of the late John and Susan (Bahr) Hartzig
and was the wife of the late Lewis Yonkin.
A resident of the Allentown area for the past 35 years, she was a member of the Zion
Evangelical and Reformed Church.
She is survived by four children: Sadie M. wife of Robert Kirk, Syracuse, NY, Dewey Yonkin,
Germansville, RI, Charles Yonkin and Florence Yonkin, both at home, and one granddaughter
Patricia Yonkin.
Services were held Monday morning at 11 o’clock from the Grandview cemetery, Allentown.

Dewey H. Yonkin, 87, of Germansville and Trexlertown, Pa, died October 4, 1985, in the Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown.
He was the husband of the late Gertrude L. (Wagner) Yonkin.
Born in Dushore, he was a son of Louis and Minerva A. Hartzig Yonkin.
He owned and operated a service station on Route 309 at Pleasant Corners for more then
35 years before retiring in 1970.
He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Allentown.
Surviving is a sister, Florence Y. Seltzer of Macungie.

Charles E. Yonkin, 64, of 619 N. 4th St. Allentown, Pa., died Monday, January 3, 1966, in
Sacred Heart Hospital.
He was employed for 35 years at Peter Moggio and Sons, Inc., Allentown, and was a member
of Asbury Methodist Church, Allentown.
Born in Dushore, Sullivan County, PA, he was the son of the late Louis W. and
Minerva Ann (Hartzig) Yonkin; and was married to the late Sophie (Homiak) Yonkin.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Ann, wife of Joseph Gentile of Piscataway, N.J.; a
brother, Dewey H. of Germansville; two sisters, Sadie, wife of Robert Kirk of Syracuse,
N.Y. and Florence, wife of Paul Seltzer of Machugnie RD 1; and two grandchildren.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Stephens Funeral Home, 1335-37 Linden St.,
Allentown. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery.
Florence Y. Yonkin (Minerva, John S, John, John Hartzig) born in about 1903; died
October 29, 1985.

Mrs. Florence Y. Seltzer, 82, of Macungie, died October 29, 1985, in the Allentown
Hospital.
She was employed by Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania in the Allentown office for 43
years. For 33 of those years she was a supervisor- operator. She retired in 1966.
Born in Dushore, she was a daughter of Louis and Minerva A. Hartzig Yonkin. She was a
member of Zion United Church of Christ, Allentown.
Her husband, Paul L. Seltzer, is the only immediate survivor.
