Charles Hartzig, a highly respected citizen of Cherry township died Wednesday, Aug. 15, at his home after a brief illness.
Mr. Hartzig was born in Cherry Township, Sept. 5, 1836. He married Amanda Thrasher and lived for a number of years on the farm where he died. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Hattie Eichenlaub, and one son Harry B. Hartzig of Dushore, also by two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Bahr and Mrs. Hannah Rohe, and one brother, John S. Hartzig. The funeral was largely attended and was held in Zion Lutheran church at Dushore, Friday morning, with interment at Thrasher's cemetery.

Mrs. Laura Hoffa Hartzig, wife of Dr. Harry B. Hartzig, optometrist, passed away at her home Sunday morning, October 4th, following an illness of three weeks.

Mrs. Hartzig was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John S. Hoffa, and was born in Dushore, November 19, 1878. She was a lifelong member of the Zion Evangelical church of this place and always took an active part in the work of her church.

She was united in marriage to Dr. Harry B. Hartzig, November 26, 1908 and commenced housekeeping in Mildred, where Dr. Hartzig had established a growing jewelry and repair business. About 21 years ago they disposed of their property in Mildred and located in Dushore in the building, which they have since purchased. Mrs. Hartzig assisted her husband in his business very ably. She was also a member of the Eastern Star of Towanda.

Mrs. Hartzig is survived by her husband, a daughter Miss Eleanor L. Hartzig, three sisters, Misses Mary and Lena Hoffa of this place and Mrs. Margaret Henninger of Shamokin and one brother, Walter A. Hoffa, also of town.

Funeral service was held from her late home Monday morning with a further service in Zion Evangelical Lutheran church. Rev. Harold G. Deisher, pastor, assisted by Rev. Arthur L. Smith, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran church of Mildred, officiated. Burial was in the family plot in Zion Lutheran cemetery.

The funeral was very largely attended and the floral tribute was profuse.

The pallbearers were: Supt. H. R. Henning, C. Raymond Kschinka, Geo. W. Jackson, John L. Hileman, Harland McCarty and B.F. Crossley.

The flower bearers were: Howard Messersmith, Charles Fitzpatrick, Girard Murray, Hubert Shelheimer, John Hieber and John Utz.

Miss Eleanor L. Hartzig, Dushore, died October 2, 1976, at her home, following a lingering illness. A native of Sullivan County, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Laura Hoffa Hartzig.

She was a retired postal clerk, having worked in the Dushore Post Office for many years. She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Zion Chapel, of Dushore and its Dorcas Society.

Surviving are several cousins.

Funeral services were held at the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home on October 5, with the Rev. Edgar Reed, her pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Zion Cemetery.

A pretty double wedding occurred at the home of Morris Baumgartner, in Sunbury, Saturday, February 14.
Mr. Fred Eichenlaub, of Hughesville, and Miss Edna Sick, of Cherry Mills, were two of the contracting parties, and Mr. Walter Eichenlaub, of Hughesville, and Miss Hattie L. Hartzig, of Cherry, the others.
The double ceremony was performed by Rev. J.H. Weber, of Sunbury
