Mrs. Jesta L. Pennimpade, of Cherry Mills, died at the residence of her father, Charles F. Yonkin, in Forks, Aug. 6th, 1890.

The remains were interred at the Germany cemetery in Cherry, Aug. 8th. Mrs. Pennimpade was born at Monroeton, Bradford County, March 4th, 1856. She leaves three children, a son and two daughters.

Jerome Richley was rushed to the Robert Packer Hospital Sayre, in the Tubach ambulance, Wednesday evening, after a fall down a cellar stairway. He passed away twenty minutes after being admitted.

Mr. Richley was Sullivan County’s last Spanish American War Veteran. He was born January 26, 1880, in Cherry Mills, Dushore R.D. the son of the late Wendell and Jessica Yonkin Richley. His wife was the former Mary McMahon who preceded him in death during 1951.

He is survived by two sons, Francis and Joseph of Dushore; three daughters, Mrs. James Lane, Dushore, Mrs. John Madden, Towanda, and Mrs. Joseph A. Ryan, Dushore. Twenty grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive as well as two sisters, twins, Mrs. A.T. Baker and Mrs. Walter Keiper of Scranton.

A military funeral will be held from the family home in Dushore, at 10:00 Saturday morning with high mass of Requiem at 11:00 in St. Basil’s Church. Interment in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Richley was a member of St. Basil’s church and its Holy Name Society. He belonged to the V.F.W. at Lopez. Friends may call at the home after 5:00 on Thursday afternoon. Members of the Holy Name Society will meet at 8:00 p.m. Friday for recitation of the Rosary.

Mrs. Laura Yonkin Richley, wife of Francis E. Richley of Powell, died Friday March 2nd at their home following an illness of some time, at the age of 86 years.

She was born in Forks Township, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Yonkin. After receiving her education in the public schools, she entered the profession of teaching, continuing in this work for 20 consecutive years.

She was united in marriage with Francis E. Richley, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Richely of Cherry Mills, and lived for many years on the Richley homestead before moving to Powell.

She is survived by her husband, a son, Howard Richley; a grandson, James Richley; a granddaughter, Mrs. Jane Mount, and four great grandchildren, all of Powell.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 5th in the Reformed Church of the Redeemer, German Street, Dushore, Rev. Clement B. Meyers, pastor officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery at this place

Frank Richley aged 82, of Dushore died at the home of Jerome Richley on Friday, March 21. He is survived by one son, Howard Richley, of Powell; a brother, Michael, of Sayre; two sisters, Mrs. Tillie McCarthy and Mrs. Martha Allen, both of Ulster; two grandchildren, Ina Mount of Powell and James Richley of Powell.

Funeral services were held at the home of Jerome Richley and from the Reformed church in Dushore Monday with burial in the Fairview Cemetery. Rev. C.B. Meyers of the Reformed church officiated, at the services.

Mr. Richley had many friends and was well know throughout the community, where he had made his home with his nephew for a number of years.

The pallbearers were Francis and Joseph Richley, Joseph Ryan, Jr., Michael Waldron, James Lane, Jr. and Charles Murray, all of Dushore.

Those from out-of-town attending the funeral where Howard Richley, Jimmy Richley, Mrs. Inez Mount and Mrs. Mary Yetter of Powell, Mrs. Herman Lonzer and Mrs. Ira Mangle of Pittston, Mr. and Mrs. John Madden and daughter, Ann of Towanda.

Howard G. Richley of Powell died Friday afternoon.

He was born December 24, 1893, in Dushore, the son of Frank and Laura Yonkin Richley.

He was a graduate of Mansfield State Normal School, was principal of the Monroeton High School from 1921 to 1923 and then was principal of the Powell High School until 1932.

He opened the Greenwood Nursery and a Red and White Store in Powell until 1959. He also was employed at Ingersoll-Rand in Athens and was an agent for the Aetna Insurance Company.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel, a daughter, Mrs. Ina Mount of Ulster, a son, James of Powell; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 o’clock at the Maryott Funeral Home with the Rev. Norman Handy officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Dushore.

Mrs. James Kunes of Dushore died Sunday afternoon following a long illness. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Kilgannon of Binghamton, Miss Marie of Towanda, and Mrs. Margaret Bensen of Binghamton; four grandchildren, Richard Streby of Binghamton; Bernhard, Donald and Lyle Bensen, also of Binghamton; one sister, Mrs. Laura Richley of Monroeton; an aunt, Mrs. Almira Kschinka of Dushore.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the house and at 2 o’clock at the Reformed church. The Rev. C.B Meyer officiated and burial was in Fairview cemetery.

Mrs. Lyla Blanche Merchant, a former resident of Dushore, died on September 2 in the hospital for crippled and ruptured at New York City where she had been nursing.

She was the wife of George M. Merchant. They have made their home in New York for some years. She is surivved by her husband; one son, Richard Streby of Dushore; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Kunes of Dushore; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Kilgannon of Binghamton, Mrs. Margaret Bensen of Binghamton and Miss Marie Kunes of Dushore.

Funeral services were held Sunday. Interment in Fairview Cemetery.

Guy Yonkin of Forks Township died Tuesday morning at 6 o’clock in the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre where he has been receiving treatment for Brights’ disease for the past three weeks.

Mr. Yonkin was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Yonkin of Forks township and has always resided on the old homestead. He was born May 13, 1872. In 1906 he was united in marriage with Miss Lizzie Hepler, a niece of the late Mrs. J. B. Cox of Cherry, with whom she made her home.

Mr. Yonkin is survived by his wife, three daughters, Florence, Gertrude and Velma, and one son Lester, also two sisters, Cora, wife of James Kunes of Dushore, and Laura, wife of Frank Richley of Cherry township.

Funeral service will be held Friday morning at 11:30 in the Reformed church. Friends will meet at the home at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery

Lester V. Yonkin, 46, of El Paso, Texas, died Tuesday, August 2, 1960, of coronary occlusion.

Born in Forks Township, Sullivan County, Pa., he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy E. Yonkin. He attended the Shrimp school. The family moved to Bloomsburg in 1926, and he was graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1932.

In 1943 he entered the U.S. Air Force and served four years in the European theatre. Remaining in service, he was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, where he was involved in a plane crash and was hospitalized for 16 months. He sustained a compound fracture of the leg, a broken hand and back injury.

In 1956, while stationed at Biggs Air Base in El Paso, he separated from the service, having attained the rank of master sergeant.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, a native of Glendale, Ariz; a daughter, Cheryle, 10 years, and son, Dale, 12 years of age; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Longenberger and Mrs. Gertrude Musselman of Bloomsburg, and Miss Velma of Orangeville.

Mrs. Longenberger and Mrs. Musselman traveled by plane to El Paso to attend the funeral, which was held on Friday, August 5. Burial was in Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Maud V. Yonkin died at her home in Forks Township early Tuesday morning, aged 32 years 8 months and 8 days. She was born on October 6, 1877, in Forks Township. Deceased is survived by her father C.F. Yonkin at home and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Richley of Cherry, and Mrs. James Kunes of Cherry. The funeral services will be held at the house Friday morning at 10:30 and interment will be made in the Germany cemetery.
