PHOEBE THRASHER (George, George Thrasher); born in 1834; died August 31, 1882; buried in Thrasher's cemetery, Dushore, PA

Married JACOB B. LAMBERSON on July 4, 1854, per the Old Zion church records in Dushore, PA; born in 1832; died in 1899; buried in Thrasher's cemetery. Jacob was born March 18, 1832 in Black Creek Township, Luzerne County, PA, the son of Samuel Lamberson and Elizabeth Fenstermacher. He was the great-grandson of the original emigrant, also named Jacob Lamberson, who came to Baltimore from Wales at the end of the seventeenth century. The background of the Lamberson family is detailed in William W. Scott's History of Passaic and Its Environs, published in 1922, which we reproduce in part here:

Mary M. Norconk, 96, of Wilmot Township, New Albany, RD, died May 5, 1992, at the Laporte United Methodist Home. She was born Jan. 14, 1896, in Dushore, a daughter of Ransom and Amanda Steiner Lamberson.

She was the widow of Charles M. Norconk who died in 1983. At that time the couple had observed their 65th wedding anniversary.

The Norconks were active dairy farmers on their Century farm until they retired in 1961. The farm continues today and is operated by their son, Raymond. Mrs. Norconk was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, St. John's Chapel in Wilmot Township and she was a member of its Ladies Aid Society.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Arlene Neuber of Wyalusing; Mrs. Marian Blemle of New Albany; Mrs. Rachael Miller of Binghamton, NY; and Mrs. Charles (Kathryn) Slawta of Vestal, NY; a son Raymond of New Albany; a sister, Mrs. Addie Neuber of Colley; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, a sister, and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Friday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilmot with Rev. Richard A. Reeser officiating. Friends may call at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be Norconk Cemetery in Wilmot Township. Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, Dushore. Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Chapel, in care of Frank Messersmith, RD 1, New Albany, Pa 18833.

Charles M. Norconk, 87, of Wilmot Township, New Albany RD, died December 25, 1983, at his home following an apparent heart attack.

He was born Nov. 12, 1896, a son of Jesse and Lucy Messersmith Norconk, and was the surviving member of that family. A lifetime resident of Wilmot Twp., he was engaged in dairy farming until his retirement five years ago. He and his wife, the former Mary Lamberson, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Nov. 5, 1983. He was a lifetime member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, St. John's Chapel of Wilmot and also a former member of its church council. He was a charter member of the Sulbra Breeding Co-op and a director of the Norconk Cemetery Corporation. In 1942 his family farm was made a Pennsylvania Century Farm.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Lamberson Norconk; four daughters, Ms. Lewis (Arlene) Neuber of Wyalusing RD; Mrs. Marian Blemle, New Albany RD; Mrs. Rachel Miller of Binghamton; Mrs. Charles (Kathryn) Slawter of Vestal, NY; one son, Raymond Norconk of New Albany, RD 1; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 28, 1983, at St. John's Lutheran Chapel in Wilmot Township, with Rev. Richard A. Reeser officiating. The family requested memorials be directed to St. John's Lutheran Chapel Memorial Fund.

After three months illness from scarlet fever, which developed into dropsy, John Lamberson died at the home of his mother Mrs. Daisy Lamberson in Cherry Township, at the age of 18 years, at 6 o’clock Tuesday morning.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the house, Rev. Smith of Ricketts officiating. Interment will be made in the Thresher cemetery.

He was taken ill on the 27th of November last with scarlet fever from which he rallied and for a time it was thought he would regain his health. Dropsy set in and the young man gradually grew weaker until death relieved him of his suffering.

Besides his mother he is survived by one brother and three sisters, Maurice of New York, Alma of Philadelphia, Inez of Cherry, and Alice at home.

Miss Inez Lamberson, R.N. aged 45 died at her home in Cherry Township, Wednesday morning after a brief illness. She was born in Cherry Township, a daughter of the late Adam and Mary Hoffa Lamberson. After her graduation from the Dushore High School, she entered the Nurse’s Training School at the Wilkes- Barre General Hospital. For the past several years she has been doing private duty nursing.

Miss Lamberson is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Alma Schmidt of Thorofare, N.J. and Miss Alice Lamberson of Philadelphia, a brother Maurice of Barton, MD also four foster sisters, Mrs. Addie Kelly of Cherry Township, Mrs. Anna Steiner, Ida and Phoebe Hieber with whom she resided, also seven nephews and two nieces.

Funeral services will be held at the home, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. John D. Keener, pastor, officiating. Interment in the family plot in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
