Married WILLIAM J. KISNER on December 22, 1855. He was born October 16, 1836, son of William Kisner & Sara G. Dieffenbach. He died September 2, 1899.

Married George Newton Messersmith on November 12, 1878. He was born March 26, 1855, died December 10, 1901.

George married 2nd Melissa Ann Heverly and they had two daughters, Pearl and Allena, and a son named George. Pearl Messersmith (1892-1985) became a well-known teacher of long standing at the Edinger Hill School in Spring Hill, Tuscarora Township, PA. She married Albert Learn (1896-1987), brother of Harry Learn to whom her half-sister Alverna Maud Messersmith was married. Pearl wrote an interesting history of the Edinger Hill School in 1963 before she passed away. We present here an old family story about how Pearl and Albert, The source is likely the Wyalusing Rocket in November 1970, per Carol Brotzman, the contributor, who found the story in a newspaper clipping in the posthumous collection of Mae Fassett.

Pearl and Albert Learn Albert met Miss Pearl Messersmith during the Christmas Holidays of 1913. He was taking a bunch of youngsters on a holiday midnight sleigh ride. She was visiting at that time at the Harry Learn home. Harry was his older brother and his wife was her (Pearl Messersmith's) half-sister. Five years later they were married. She was a native of Pelton Hill, near New Albany. Her father died young and her mother placed her in foster care. She graduated from High School in Sayre, Pa, then went to Towanda to become a teacher. She wished she had learned to type, as she writes in the "Edinger Hill" newspaper column in the Wyalusing Rocket.

Jacob E. Hieber, formerly of this area, died Thursday evening at 8 at his home in East Rochester, N.Y, after a brief illness.
Mr. Hieber is survived by his wife, Alice, one son Glenwood Hieber, also of East Rochester; two grandchildren, Martha and Richard Hieber; the following brothers and sisters, Oscar and Oliver of East Rochester, Mrs. Lena Smithers of Corning, Mr. Carrie Robinson, Mrs. Lula Sturdevant, Mrs. Mary Hawk and Miss Ida Hieber, all of New Albany.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon in East Rochester

Mrs. Alice Messersmith Hieber, who is well known in the Colley-Dushore area, passed away Sunday morning at the home of her son, Glenwood Hieber, at 108 Spruce St., East Rochester, N.Y.
She was the wife of the late Jacob Hieber and is survived by her son, Glenwood; two grandchildren; a brother, Harold Messersmith, of Overton; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Learn of Laceyville and Mrs. Allena Meade, of Rochester.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon in Rochester and interment was in that city.

Mary D. Learn, 76, RR1, Box 20, died Saturday, November 14, 1988, at home following a long battle with ALS.
Born September 24, 1922 in Clapper Hill, she was one of 10 children of Peter and Kathryn Rebisz Dziuba.
She married N. Arden Learn on January 25, 1942.
She retired from Bendix Aviation in 1985 with 32 years of service as an assembler and group leader. In the 1950s, she operated Learn's Gas Station, Stevensville.
She was an artist, craftsperson and accomplished needlework instructor. She taught tatting in several forms for many years. She was active in PARSE: AARP, Wyalusing Senior Citizens; Widowed Persons; Stevensville Birthday Club, and Wyalusing Park Place. She was involved with the making of "ugly quilts" and visiting for the Area Agency on Aging.
She was a member at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Wyalusing.
She was preceded in death by her husband on January 26, 1992; and three brothers, Frank, in 1981; Andrew in 1987; and Paul in 1998.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Clapper, Monroe, N.C., and Linda Learn, Tunkhannock; a granddaughter, Mechele Clapper, Peachland, N.C.; a grandson, Daniel Rogers, Scranton; great grandsons, Daniel A. Rogers II and David William Chandler, both of Scranton; three sisters, Sofia Hill, Buffalo, N.Y.; Frances Krol, Clarence, N.Y.; and Barbara Mislevy, Tunkhannock; three brothers, John Dziuba, Buffalo, N.Y.; Benjamin Dziuba, Tunkhannock; and Felix Dziuba, Laceyville; 61 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services wereheld Wednesday from Sheldon Funeral Home, Laceyville, with Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church, Wyalusing, with Father Thomas McDermott officiating.
Interment, Lacey Street Cemetery, Laceyville.
A Rosary was recited Tuesday evening.
Memorial donations may be made to the Northeastern Support Group of the ALS Association.

Norman Roy Learn, age 82, died on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002 at Annaburg Manor in Manassas, VA.

Mr. Learn retired from the U.S. military after serving 22 years. He served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen Learn of Manassas, VA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Howard J. and Susan Learn of Gainesville, VA, Hayward G. and Telesa Learn of Fairborn, OH; a brother, William Learn of Wyalusing; three grandchildren, Peter Learn of San Antonio, TX, Chun Ho Learn of Korea, Michael Learn of Ithaca, NY, Christine Schhuetz of Chaddsford, Matthew Learn of Blacksburg, VA; three great-grandchildren, Katie Schuetz of Chaddsford, Stacey and Scott Learn of Korea; very close family friends, Bill and Liz Inmon of Annapolis, MD and their daughter, Julie Michaels of Dallas, TX.

Visitation was held at the Blasius-Baker Funeral Home, 9320 West St., Manassas, VA on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. Services followed at 4 p.m. at Baker Chapel. Interment will be in the Arlington National Cemetery with military honors on Dec. 9, 2002 at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Anna Butts died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rose Wood, in Elmira Heights, Thursday, March 13, after a long illness. She was 85 years old. Mrs. Butts was born June 5, 1861 at Wilmot, the daughter of William James Kisner and Catherine Kisner.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Wood of Elmira Heights, and a brother, Jesse Kisner of Wilmot. The funeral was held Monday afternoon with services at the Holcomb funeral home at 2 o’clock and with further services at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Wilmot, Rev. John D. Keener officiating. Burial was in the Wilmot cemetery

The deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Forrest Mosier of Dalton; three sons Floyd and Ulysses of Castle Creek, N.Y. and Arthur of Binghamton; two sisters Mrs. Anna Butts and Mrs. Lucinda Eberlin both of Wilmot; and one brother, Jesse of Wilmot.

c Floyd W. Kisner, age 53, of Chenango Forks, N.Y. died Wednesday evening, May 30, 1945, at the City Hospital, Binghamton, N.Y. following two months’ illness.
He was born at Colley, Sullivan County, July 22, 1892, the son of the late Adam and Malinda Kisner. For many years he lived in this community and at LaGrange. His father conducted a blacksmith shop at Forkston about 40 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Wealthia; one daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Marabell, of Osterhout; six sons, Howard, of Susquehanna; Charles, of Oakland, Calif; PFC Heath of Brooklyn, N.Y. Floyd Jr., Vern, and Irvin, at home, and three grandchildren; two brothers, Artie and Bob, of Binghamton, N.Y., and one sister, Mrs. Lillie Mosier, of Dalton, Pa.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Rice’s Memorial Chapel in Johnson City, and interment was made in the Factoryville Cemetery.

Forrest L. Mosier, 59, native of Colley, died at his home at Dalton on Friday, December 4.
Mr. Mosier was born at Colley, this county, on September 1, 1894, the son of the late Freeman and Lavina Hunsinger Mosier. He had operated a blacksmith shop at Dalton since 1919.

Surviving are his wife, the former Lillie Kisner, one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Carey of Dalton; a brother, three sisters, two half brothers and two half sisters,
The funeral was held December 7, with interment in Clarks Green Cemetery, near Clark Summit, PA.
