Editor's Note: We are very appreciative of this lineage provided by Elaine Frey, one of the longstanding contributors to our site. By giving us this superficially simple list, in which we have bolded her descent path, Elaine has helped us to focus on the links among several old original families in Sullivan County history. You can learn more at the following links, where the Hoagland, Battin, Warburton, Frey and related families are found and connected:

Editor's Note: Joseph Battin's second wife was actually born Hannah Clara Mullen. She was the daughter of Charles Mullen and Elizabeth Hoagland, thereby making Joseph and his wife, Hannah, first cousins. Hannah was born July 12, 1809 and died March 21, 1897. Hannah was previously married to John Molyneux Warburton, born November 15, 1805, and died September 9, 1874. Hannah and her first husband John M. Warburton had nine children that we are aware of. Their second child Angeline (1833-1905) was first married to William Brown and secondly to Reuben D. Wilber, thus the Warburton and Wilbur connections listed at the head of this page. Joseph Battin's daughter Lucinda was Elaine Frey's ancestor. Joseph also had a son Rubin T. Battin who was married to Mariah E. Pardoe, the first cousin three times removed to our source of this information--namely, Larry Pardoe.
