1878 Sullivan County Geological Map

This section was inspired by Carol Brotzman of Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, PA. Carol has made many valuable contributions to our site, not the least of which are the maps and page links to maps provided here. We are grateful to Carol for suggesting this page and providing the initial information and map photos. We would be delighted to review additional suggestions and map contributions from our readers.

Let's first introduce our readers to two comprehensive sources for Pennsylvania maps:

(1) Historic County Maps
(2) Old Maps of Pennsylvania.

And here is a link to several high quality topographical maps of Sullivan County and its townships accessible from the US Geological Survey in the USGenWeb Archives:
USGS Sullivan County.

We also present an 1885 map of real property in Dushore Borough prepared for fire risk assessment:

Next, we present a few general map links of use to family historians:

Additional links and maps are shown below. The Bradford County maps are presented first, then the Sullivan County maps. Note the 1878 geological survey map of Sullivan County at the top of this page as well. We have also appended an 1881 map of Susquehanna County, since that is where the Heverly family so prominent in the 19th century in Sullivan and Bradford Counties, came from.

Shows all the roads and the major cemeteries in this section of Bradford County. Also shows the bends in the river and proximity of the counties. The Susquehanna County border runs alongside map number 3 on the right edge, then just a short distance, maybe a mile or so in places, to the right of Tuscarora Creek. The map was created before 1973. The Wyoming County border is shown as well.

The following three maps are published in the online Wikipedia encyclopedia, and are reproduced here under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License. The first two show township and other political boundary maps. The third is a color map of the major waterways of north central Pennsylvania, anchored on Lycoming County:
