Note: Also called Warren or the New Molyneux cemetery. It's between Rt 87 & Loyalsock creek, that is, in the middle of nowhere. We are grateful once again for this valuable record of the history of Sullivan County. We have also posted several photos taken by Grant Berry of Hughesville, PA in November 2009. Grant is a descendant of the well known Warren family that settled in this area and whose members are listed in the interments below. We thank Grant for his contribution. His photosgraphs of Warren family burials are linked below.

Beginning in October 2009, the Sullivan County Historical Society and Museum (SCHS&M) provided an update that includes previously unlisted interments, as well as addtional information on several of the interments that we did have. This information was extracted from current and old records in the possesssion of that organization. We have color coded those entries in crimson, and express our sincere appreciaton for this information to our colleagues at SCHS&M.

At first in March 2005 and then in April 2010, June Howard contributed several pictures of several tombstones and markers from this cemetery. We have linked these pictures in the listing below. Naturally, we are much appreciative of June's efforts in this regard. She is a descendant of the Rowe, Molyneux and Tomlinson families of Sullivan County, and is related by marriage to the Vough family. You can learn more about these families at

** Editor's Note: In August 2007, Mike Dempsey and Carol Brotzman provided additional information on the connections among the Warren, Lambert and Granteer families, members of which are buried in this cemetery. It will be useful for those interested in pursuing the connections to reference the Lambert Family Bible page before continuing.

Mike provided the following commentary as well:

I am fairly confident that the burial locations mentioned in John Lamback's note refer to the current Millview Cemetery (also known as the Warren or Molyneux Cemetery). Carol managed to put the Lambert and Warren family trees together before I could write it all up. And I just saw the Warren family LDS records which are fabulous and helps me to fill out that part of the tree.
Yes, I think "Hanah" and "Sharlet" (Charlotte) are the sisters of Jane Warren, who was the mother of William Lambert.
The story of William Lambert is that he was murdered with poison by his second wife, surname Hipple (aka Heiple). She was acquitted. A short paragraph about this trial is in Historic Hodge Podge.
I think we also have the name Grentere (Granteer) correct from the note. That is great work by Carol to identify that name. I could not figure it out. I think the G is correct because that script is written differently than the S in Sharlet. I thought the "t" was an "l" because it is not crossed. However, note that the "t" in "Description" is also not crossed in the note so "Grentere" matches with the handwriting.
This reference in the History of Overton may indeed be the match:

Hannah Heverly came to Bradford county with her parents and while living with them at Greenwood married Jacob Granteer of Canton. Her children were—Eli, Electa (Mrs. Ozias Kilburn), and three others, who died in childhood. She died at Canton about 1819, and is buried, in the old cemetery on the Granteer farm.

However, it is not clear if the burial reference to "the old cemetery on the Granteer farm" is a match for the burial locations of the others listed in the John Lambert note. There seems to be a discrepancy. If this Hannah Heverly is a match to the Hanah Grentere named in the note, then she is the sister-in-law of Hannah (Warren) Heverly who married Christian Heverly, the brother of Hannah (Heverly) Granteer.
Based on the picture constructed so far, the burial chronology for those listed in the John Lambert note looks like this:

John Warren: 1813
Mary Warren: 1840
Hannah Warren Heverly: 1821
Charlotte Warren: 1824
Hannah Heverly Granteer: 1819

Here are the basics on the Lambert family ancestry:
John Lambert and Jane Warren - 3 children:
---John Lambert: unknown details
---Mary Lambert (1825 - 1901) m. Thomas Clark, 1 child William Clark (1849 - 1880)
---William Lambert (1820 - 1887) m. Emma Wright (1823 - 1882), 2 children:
------John W Lambert (1847 - 1899) m. Emma Landback (1853 - 1897): This is the family that has the Bible with the note written by John W Lambert. John and Emma had 7 girls and 1 boy. The boy Ward Lambert died in 1923. Apparently since John and Emma both died fairly young and the son also died rather young, the farm and associated property passed on to George's side of the family.
------George W Lambert (1855 - 1925) m. Mary Tolan (1850 - 1928), 3 children:
---------Leo Lambert (1884 - 1929) m. Margaret Dempsey (1885 - 1971): This is the family that still lives on and works the Lambert dairy farm today. Margaret Dempsey is the sister of my grandfather, Robert Dempsey. That is my connection to all of these people.
--------Lena Lambert (1882 - ? ) m. James Keating
--------Alice Lambert (1889 - ?)
