The photographs on this page were taken by Lynn Franklin in September 2008 to preserve
a digital record of the funeral card of Carl Rex Masteller. Carl died in August 1910 at age seven months
and is buried at the Cherry Grove Cemetery in
Nordmont, PA. The original card was published in 1901 by the Midland Art Company of Elgin,
Illinois. It was passed down in the Masteller family to Milly Gowdy who is a descendant of the Mastellers. She decided to donate the
Funeral Card to the Sullivan County Historical Society and Museum in Laporte, PA and sent it to Bob Sweeney for conservation. You can learn
more about this family and the history of the card by going to the cemetery link provided above and reading the footnote provided
at the bottom of the listings there.
