* Historians note: Riley Potter was proved to be a veteran buried here by Carol Brotzman in 1997. He received his headstone in 2000. He served second hitch in the 57th Regt. Pa. Vol GAR
I believe the following to be in error in the original list of Glenn Bennett and Mae Fassett. They were unable to prove their military service although they tried hard.
Maxfield, Cyrus N. Jr. He probably doesn't even exist ? lot 148
Shaw, Robert Spanish American War, I cannot locate him, I have no proof he is buried at Beaver Meadows.
* Historians Note: I have reason to believe, through family records, that Robert Shaw was buried in the Quinby Cemetery, Silvara, Pa.
Marbaker, Clarence E. WWI lot 100
* Historians Note: Mr. Clarence Marbaker probably did serve in WW I, he was the right age and he does have a standard next to his name, however he is not on the WPA Map dated July 1941.
The following are military markers found in the cemetery not listed in the Military list.
George Grannis WWI lot 38
Max Smith WWII lot 62
Wesley Pickett GAR
Wesley was too young for the Civil War being born in 1853. lot 2
Isaac and Abraham Potter, sons of Riley and Lorania Palmer Potter, being a casualties of the Civil War, were probably never returned for burial. They may have been buried in lot 134!
Their home was located in the field across the road from the Stravatto property.
Isaac R Potter Company B 141st Pa Vol
Abraham G Potter Company A 151st Pa Vol
The Beaver Meadows Cemetery Association was paid $96.00 for 48 soldiers in 1995. There are 52 soldiers on this list! I suspect that C.N. Maxfield Junior, Robert Shaw, and Clarence Marbaker are in error from the old list I found. The WPA map of about 1940 supports the soldiers listings to that date.
The following indicates Earl Blakeslee served.
NAME: Earl E Blakeslee
BIRTH DATE: 8 Apr 1887
DEATH DATE: 19 Jul 1978
AGE: 91
VETERAN OF WHICH WAR: World War I
CEMETERY NAME: Beautiful View Cemetery
CEMETERY LOCATION:
Beaver Meadows, Pennsylvania (Bradford County not Carbon County)
