HERSHBERGER GRAVE YARD
Situated near Springs, Elk Lick Twp., Somerset Co., PA on the farm now owned by Gideon Brenneman, about two miles east of Springs, and about 500 yards Southeast of the farm buildings.

| 1 | . | P. H. | This was undoubtedly Peter Hershberger, the father of Daniel. Peter Hershberger was instantly killed by a falling limb of a tree while on Horseback, riding in company with Dr. Muckenhoupt, who was a doctor and Preacher combined. This happened at a point about 1 1/2 miles S. W. of the present Post Office of Springs. There is a grand daughter of Peter Hershberger still living, Mrs. Tillie Stevanus semi active in body and mind at the age of 91 years, as she knows about this only as a matter of tradition, it must have happened more than 100 years ago. This is the most remote ancestor that I have information about of the large number of Hershbergers in this section and in states farther west. | . | |||
