Austin Dam Built in 1909 on Freeman Run to supply water to the Bayless Paper mill. On September 30, 1911 the dam collapsed. About 400 million gallons of water was released and destroyed everything for 8 miles. At least 78 people perished and it was the 2nd worst flood disaster in Pennsylvania's history and the 6th worst dam failure in the United States.
