The Orchestra

The G. H. S. orchestra, larger this year than preceding years, is certainly worthy of honorary mention.  Part of this honor is due to the director, Prof. H. C. Smith.  Seniors belonging to this organization are:  Ethel Wise, violin; Keelen Mitchell, clarinet; and Norman and Hartford Dilley, violins.  The other members are Elbert Green, piano; Maynard McClure, cornet; Blair McCracken, clarinet; Clair Snyder, violin, Ruth Wagner, violin; Ivara Beil, ocorene; Charles Baer, violin; and Luther McGinnis, violin.

This organization, like the High School chorus, is known to Greenville citizens as well as High students.  They have taken a prominent part in the Community Sings.

The Chorus

One thing for which the students wait with pleasure and expectation is the chorus.  It is the relaxation after a day of hard work.  All the students, except those who are busy studying their numerous studies, take advantage of this period of rest.

This year the chorus is divided into two sections, the Senior-Sophomore and the Junior-Freshmen.  The chorus is not only known to High School students, but to the citizens of Greenville as well, as it leads one of the Community Sings.  A great part of this honor is due to Prof. H. C. Smith, director of both sections.

It seems as though the chorus gains in membership each year and it is the hearty wish of the Senior class that it may grow in membership and success.
