Early Presbyterian Church
Religious meetings were held for many years in what were known as
“tents,” or open shanties, and as late as 1819-20, churches were very
few in the country. The “Seceders” built, a church very early, and the
first preacher was Rev. Mr.
McClintock. The settlers came for several miles to attend
it, as did their children to the school on the Pew
farm.
