We had no church trials.  It was a time of peace.  We settled our difficulties among ourselves.  The policy of the church was now conservative.  It would require volumes to record the life history of a congregation running through almost a quarter of a century.  God has written it in His Book.  The Day will reveal it.

During Dr. Brittian's pastorate the following elders were elected:  Robert Templeton, ordained January 1st 1862, and one of the best workers the church ever had; A. J. Greer, elected in 1867, having been certified as an elder from Mercer; Benjamin Wylie, J. M. Bean and T. A. Robinson were elected in 1870.  James C. Brown and John G. McFate in May 1874.
