ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
So
many have helped the editor and compiler of this history in one way or
another that he hesitates to list their names, lest through a faulty
memory, some be unintentionally omitted. Yet he feels he must run that
risk. For helpful information and research we are indebted to: Father James Kearns, Sister M. Ursula,
Sister M. Philippa, Sister M. Monacella, Sister M. Dolores, Mrs. C. C.
Campbell, Mrs. George Robinson, Mrs. John Collins, Frank A’Hearn, James
Cullinan, M. M. Callahan, Joanne Shoaff, Staff of the
Record Argus, Paul Larkin, Joseph
Matovic, Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Collins, Mrs. William O’Grady, James Doran,
Evelyn Driscoll, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kane, Mrs. Pasquale Giardina, Mary
W. Junk, and Fred Smith;
for help in securing photographs, to: Rt.
Rev. Msgr. James F. Murphy, Father James Kearns, Father Andrew
Weschler, Father Charles Hacherl, Father Alfred Watson, Father Felix
Feilner, O.S.B., Sister M. Ursula, Mrs. D. F. Driscoll, Mrs. Robert
Fordyce, Mrs. Fred Dambacher, Paul Moss, Fred Smith, Lucy Junk,
and Mrs. Earl Stone;
for proof reading and correction of the manuscript, to: Sister M. Edana, Sister M. Philippa;
for valued assistance in typing the text, to: Mary
Theresa and Jane Bronder, Joanne
Shoaff, Ann Luciani
and Roseanne Collins;
for photography, to Edwin Lininger,
Mr. & Mrs. Hank Morgan & Paul Davis,
Shenango Metalcraft; for a neat job of lay-out, to: Victor Printing
Company and Joseph A. Mulvey
Advertising Service. Special thanks are due to Mr.
Frank A’Hearn, who from the depth of a phenomenal memory,
drew a sufficiently accurate rough sketch of the exterior and interior
of our original church, to enable Mr.
John Luptak, the artist, to furnish us with the fine
drawings we have in this booklet.
Special
thanks, too, are due to Father
Charles A. Costello, pastor of St. Venantius’ Parish,
Rouseville, Pa. and Historiographer of the Erie Diocese, for the
account of Bishop Michael O’Connor’s
visits to Greenville.
A
final and heartfelt word of thanks is due to the many men, women and
children of the parish who, under the supervision of Father James J. Kearns, Father Francis J.
Johnston and Lloyd
Reeher, our Sexton, cleaned, painted and completely
redecorated our church so that it would be worthy of our Centennial
services. Would that we had a list of all their names, for we should
like to honor them by including them here.
Our
Centennial Fund Committee likewise deserves special mention for a job
well done. At this moment, the men and women of this committee have
raised over ten thousand dollars which will be used to liquidate our
convent debt and to defray the expense of our Centennial Celebration.
Fortunately we have their names and we are proud to list them below.
