William Phillips of
Enterprise who had been working on the Lake Tunnel at Cleveland and
whose remains being brought here for burial. Mr. Phillips had
just finished his days work at the tunnel and was returning home when
as he stepped on the railroad crossing on State Street, which is one of
the most dangerous crossings in the city, he was struck by an engine
and his body cut to pieces. The dismembered parts were sewed
together by a local surgeon and were shipped to this place. A
wife and 1 child survive him.
