William Mitcheltree Clingan, 84, of 120 W. Northview Ave. died at 3 a.m. March 17, 1978 at his home after a three month illness.
He
was born on Feb. 3, 1884, in East Lackawannock Township, Mercer County
to the late John M. and Mary Bowen Clingan. He was formerly employed at
the former New Castle tin mill and later was marshall and steward of
the Ecclesian Club of New Castle.
Mr. Clingan was a member of
St. Camillus Church and was a charter member. He was married first to
the former Clara Strum, who preceded him in death in 1925.
He is
survived by his wife, the former Mary Donegan, whom he married Sept.
27, 1930: five daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Dorothy) Zipfel and Mrs. Leo
(Ruth) Zipfel, both of Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Betty Krajewski and Mrs.
Theodore (Margaret) Wallas, both of New Castle and Mrs. Roy (Wilma)
Lyons of East Lakewood, Ohio., and 16 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Ella Mae, and two sisters, Mrs. Karl (Annie) Smith and Miss Estella Anderson.
Friends
will be received at the J. Bradley McGonigle Memorial Home. W. Falls
and N. Beaver streets from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in
St. Camillus Church by the Rev. George E. Leech. Burial will be in St.
Joseph Cemetary.
