Retiree formerly of Grove City, Pennsylvania
was decorated WWII veteran
YOUNGSTOWN-
Robert H. Daugherty, Oakleigh Avenue, Austintown, Ohio, formerly of
Grove City, Pennsylvania died Wednesday morning (1-31-01) in Northside
Medical Center. He was 79.
Mr. Daugherty was born July 17, 1921, in Morgantown, W. Va., to Charles W. and Mary Null Daugherty. |

He was employed for 35 years as a supervisor at the Saramar Aluminum Co., Girad, Ohio, retiring in 1977.
Mr.
Daugherty was a World War II Air Force veteran, where he flew over 49
missions in the South Pacific. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Air
Medal and a Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of the 90th
Bombardment Group of the Fifth Air Force and the American Legion.
He was an avid golfer and bowler, belonging to several leagues.
Mr.
Daugherty enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Mahoning -
Trumbull Begal Club. He attended Bailey Road Baptist Church, North
Jackson, Ohio.
Besides
his wife the former Anna "Midge" Breese, whom he married June
4,1943, He leaves a sister, Doris Meehan, Medley, Florida,; two
brothers, Dwight Daugherty, Hammondsville, Ohio; and Harry Daugherty,
Champion, Ohio; two half sisters, Naomi Bowser, Grove City,
Pennsylvania; and Ruth Ross, Tulsa, Oklahoma; and a half brother, David
Daugherty, Hagerstown, MD. He was preceded in death by an infant
daughter, Dawn Daugherty; a sister, Margaret Montgomery; and three
brothers, Kenneth, Jack and Charles Daugherty.
The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in the name of the deceased
