Colonel
Albert H. Achre died Tuesday at his home in Lake Forest near Chicago
from an infection of the heart. Col. Achre was born in Greenville, Pa.,
June 6, 1885.
He was an honor graduate of the 1909 class of the
United States Military Academy. Col. Achre made an enviable record
during the war as Commander of the 4th Regiment of engineers and later
attached to the 27th division. He is survived by his widow who is the
daughter of Maj. General H.F. Hodges, retired, and 3 children.

Aug. 27, ----Colonel Albert H. Acher died yesterday at his home in Lake
Forest. Colonel Acher was 39 years old. He was an honor graduate from
the United States Military Academy, being assigned to the Engineer
Corps and aiding in the construction of the Panama Canal. During the
World War he commanded the Fourth Regiment of Engineers and was later
transferred to another regiment in the Twenty-seventh Division. He
received the Distinguished Service Medal and was cited for gallantry in
constructing bridges across the River Vesle under fire. Since the war
Colonel Acher had been engaged in general construction business here.
He leaves a widow, the daughter of Major Gen. H.F. Hodges, retired and
three daughters.
