Vera Carr Malsom
Retired legal secretary was formerly of Sharpsville
HEMET, Calif. Vera Carr Malsom,
Hemet, Calif., formerly of Sharpsville, died Saturday (3-4-00) in Hemet
Valley Medical Center following a heart attack. She was 87.
Mrs. Malsom was born Dec. 17, 1912, in Sharpsville to Fred
and Retta Carr.
She was an alumna of Sharpsville area schools [graduated 1930], where
she was active in various school activities.
Mrs. Malsom retired after 35 years as a legal secretary for Colton
Austin Law Firm.
She moved to California in 1937, and to Hemet in 1978, where she be
longed to Hemet Valley Christian Church.
In Hemet, Mrs. Malsom also belonged to Chapter 51 of AARP, the retired
persons organization; the Women’s Club; Order of the Eastern Star; TOPS
Chapter 1642; and Commission for Simpson Senior Center.
She was a member of San Jacinto (Calif.) Women’s Club; Republican
Women’s Club; Red Cross Disaster, and Order of the Golden Slipper.
Mrs. Malsom was previously active in Hemet city council. She
loved square dancing and sewing.
With her husband, Edward Malsom, to whom
she was married for 66 years, she also enjoyed camping and traveling.
Besides her husband, surviving are a son, Bert,
Memphis, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.
