P.
Iland Walter, 101, Orchard Drive, Grove City, formerly of the
Franklin area, died at 6:47 am. Monday, June 12, 1995,
in Orchard Manor, Pine Township, following an extended
illness.
Miss
Walter formerly resided on South Center Street in Grove City.
Born
Feb. 26, 1894, in Nectarine, Irwin Township, Venango County,
She was a daughter of Richard Eilsworth and Sara
Marilla Gilmore Walter.
Miss
Walter was a graduate of Clarion State College.
She
retired in 1958 from George Junior Republic in Grove City where she worked
as a bookkeeper for more than 24 years.
Walter previously was employed from 1916 to 1920 at
Clarion State College as assistant bursar. She also was a former
bookkeeper and a salesperson for David A. Kaufman
Jewelry and M. M. Kaufman Insurance of
Clarion. She also was former office manager for Clarion Motor Co.
in Clarion.
She
was a member of the General Hugh Mercer Chapter of the DAR and was life
member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 267 of Clarion.
Miss
Walter had been a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Grove City since 1929.
Surviving
are a first cousin, Paul E. Gilmore of
Stoneboro; and a second cousin, Paul M. Gilmore
of Grove City.
In
addition to her parents, Miss Walter was preceded in death by one sister, Florence
Kathryn Walter.
Friends
may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to p.m. Wednesday in the Cunningham Funeral
Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Funeral
services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the
Rev. Frank E. Hodges, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church of Grove
City, officiating.
Interment
will be in Crestview Memorial Park in Pine Township.
