Widely Known Woman Had Lived 87 Years In This Community

Funeral services were held for the late Emily A. Forker, the oldest person in Grove City who was born in the town in which she died, were held Monday afternoon from the First Presbyterian Church.  Dr. C. H. Williamson, her pastor was in charge of the services which were largely attended, and interment was made in the Harrisville cemetery.

Scores of friends were shocked to learn of Mrs. Forker's death, which occurred at 7 a.m. Sunday resulting from infirmities of old age.  She had practically spent her entire live of 87 years in this community, was and active and devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church and had a host of acquaintances gained in her long residence here.

The deceased was the daughter of the late Mrs. and Mrs. William Fleming of Grove City and Harrisville.  Her father was the first postmaster in Grove City and was the owner of the first Grove City hotel.  In 1880, following the death of her husband, John H. Forker, Mrs. Forker was appointed postmistress at Harrisville receiving her commission from President Garfield.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. O. L. Gilmore of Grove City and one son, William J. Forker, also of Grove City, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a brother, J. J. Fleming of Harrisville, also survives.
