Last
Honors Paid To Lieut. M'Granahan
Largely attended and very impressive services were
held Monday afternoon in memory of Lieut. Joseph F.
McGranahan, former Grove City College athlete, who was killed in an
aeroplane accident at Ellington Field, Houston, Texas, last week.
The funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.
C. McDowell at Jamestown, where Mr. and Mrs.
McGranahan, his parents, have been staying prior to removing to
Pittsburg for the Winter.
Rev. Mr. Hazlett of the
Jamestown Presbyterian Church and Rev. Mr. Blackwood
of Mercer had charge of the services and paid a fine tribute to this
splendid youth who answered his country's call, who had won rapid
advancement in his Army career, and who died a hero's death only a week
after he had received his commission. He was buried with full
military honors.
Many friends were present from a distance to honor
his memory. Among them were: Mr. and
Mrs. A. E. Hosack, Miss Ora Hosack, Misses Frances and Louise Hosack, Mrs.
W. D. McCord, Mrs. J. J. Spearman, Wilbur Allen, Robert Thorne, G. E.
Hosack, Mr. Christie and Mr. and Mrs. Robinson, all of Grove City; Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Veach, Mr. Woolcock, Mr. Wallace and Mrs. R. E. Wallace
