The death of John Peter Vath, aged
nearly 36 years, which occurred at his home south of town last Thursday
afternoon, came as a severe shock to his many friends in this vicinity.
Mr. Vath was taken violently ill the early part of last week with
appendicisis and on Wednesday was operated on by Dr. Siggins, of Oil City.
He rallied from the operation but was unable to withstand the shock and
died at 1 o'clock on the date above mentioned. Mr. Vath was born in Sandy
Lake township July 6, 1882, and in 1910 was married to Miss Hazel Lyons
who, with two small children, survivies. Mr. Vath had spent his entire
life in this neighborhood and was a young man of sterling qualities. He
was an esteemed citizen and neighbor and had a host of friends in this
community who sympathize deeply with his bereaved wife and relatives. The
funeral service was held at the Zion Wesleyan Methodist church Sunday
afternoon at 2:30 and was conducted by the pastor, Rev. James Tingley.
Interment was made in Zion cemetery.
