Jacob
Artman, aged 87, one of Greene Township's oldest residents,
died Saturday at the home of his son, A. J. Artman, one mile west of
Jamestown, where he had lived since 1913. The last of 9 children of
Abraham and Harriett (Parker) Artman, he was born 13 August 1845 on the
Greene Township farm now owned by Lee Mc. Artman.
He was married on 28 Aug 1870 to Castara Eleanor Burton of Wayne
County, Illinois, who died 10 February 1913. They were parents of 6
daughters and 3 sons.
Survivors include: Mrs. D.C. Packard of Greenville; Mrs. Sidney Swartz
of West Salem; Mrs. R.D. Bruce of Tulsa, OK; Mrs. George McCleery of Lewis
Run, PA; Mrs. O. L. McClelland of West Salem; Albert of West Salem, and A.
J. of Greene.
