MEADVILLE, PA.- Mrs. Ethel W.
McElrath, formerly of Clarks Mills, PA, widow of Henry R.
McElrath, died at 4:30 pm Monday (8-22-77) in Meade Nursing Home here. She had been in failing health for several years. She was 89.
Mrs. McElrath previously owned and operated the McElrath Rest Home in Jackson Center for a number of years.
She was born in Jackson Twp., Mercer County, May 1, 1888, to Samuel C.
and Mary Jane Crowley Bestwick.
She was a member of the Jackson Center United Presbyterian Church and a
charter member of Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 167, Mercer.
Her husband, whom she married Dec. 31, 1913, died in 1940.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Ida)
McCullough, Clarks Mills; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A son, James B., died in 1924. The last in her immediate family, she was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
