Sharon graduate worked for Kodak, had sister here
ROCHESTER,
N.Y. — Burton C. Gibbons, Rochester, formerly of
Honeoye Falls, N.Y., died Wednesday morning (5-10-00) in Episcopal
Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was 75.
Mr. Gibbons was born July 14, 1924, in Sharon
to Stanley C. and Mary Cosden
Gibbons.
A 1942 alumnus of Sharon High School, he
graduated summa cum laude from what is now Carnegie Mellon University,
Pittsburgh.
Mr. Gibbons retired as a chemical engineer
for Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, where he worked all his professional
life.
An
Army Air Corps veteran. Mr. Gibbons served as a lieutenant specialist
in the Centralized Fire Control Division during World War II.
His
first wife, the former Annamae
Shorts, is deceased.
Surviving
are: his third wife, Margaret Gibbons; four daughters, Mrs. John
(Kathi) Fraser; Mrs. Robert (Linda) Allen; Mrs. Arthur (Susanne) Gable;
and Anne; three sons, Jeffrey, William and Peter; and a former wife,
Barbara Ogden, all Rochester area; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Martha)
Wilcox Transfer, a brother, William, Beauford, SC.; and 11
grandchildren.
Besides
his first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred B.
Memorial
contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice or the
Alzheimer’s Association, 1103 Anrott Building, 401 Wood St., Pittsburgh

Services: Private — memorial ser vice will be
held Monday (5-15-00) at the convenience of the family in Oakwood
Cemetery, Hermitage, with the Rev. Dr. Donald P. Wilson, pastor of
Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Lackawannock Township, officiating.
Burial: Oakwood Cemetery.
