State Library of Pennsylvania Forum Building, Commonwealth Ave. & Walnut St., Harrisburg, PA Mailing Address: The State Library only accepts interlibrary loan requests from out-of-state libraries that are members of LVIS (Libraries Very Interested in Sharing) or that have a formal no-charge reciprocal agreement with the State Library. There is no borrowing restriction on Pennsylvania Newspapers and Documents for libraries within the continental U.S. There is no charge for this service. Requests from individuals and foreign requests are not accepted. Books and newspapers on microfilm are generally loaned for a period of 28 days. Loan of newspaper microfilm is limited to nine (9) reels per library at one time. Genealogy materials do not circulate. Photocopies of journal articles are supplied at no charge.
Librarians do not do genealogical research. They will assist visitors to their libraries to find items of interest in the library's collection. If you plan to visit a library in the Luzerne county area, search that library's online catalog before making your visit, to make sure the library actually has the resources you hope to find.
