G. Paul Carey

G. Paul Carey, 2 Mannion Ave., Carbondale, died unexpectedly Saturday at home. His
widow is the former Jeanne Walsh, R.N.
Born in Archbald, son of the late George and Mary Carey Carey, he was a retired traffic
Manager for Golo Footwear Corp., Dunmore. He was educated in Archbald schools and
graduated from Archbald High School. He was veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy
with the Seventh Fleet in the South Pacific for six years. He was awarded six bronze stars for his service
and served on the USS Coney, Saratoga and Biaroko. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.
Also surviving are three sons, James M., Richardson, Texas; Attorney Patrick C. Carey, Archbald, a partner in Fine,
Wyatt and Carey, Scranton; and Paul D., Carbondale; six grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Powell, Jermyn; a brother, the Rev. David Carey,
Baltimore, MD.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Edward A Wade Funeral Home, 4 Morris Place, Carbondale, with Mass at 9:30 a.m.
in St Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, concelebrated by his brother, The Rev. David Carey and the Rev. Jeffrey Walsh,
assistant pastor, St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
Friends may call Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
