McGowan, Joseph Gerald, 88, 937 Monroe Ave., Scranton, at Mercy Hospital. His wife, the former Helen Manley, dieed in 1969. Born in Avoca, he was the son of the late Martin F. and Margaret Loretta Diskin McGowan. He served with the US Navy from 1942 to 1945. He worked as a public relations officer for the Pennsylvania Motor Truckers Association and later the Daystorm Instrument Division in Archbald. He was a member of he Immaculate Conception Church, Scranton
