Staff Sgt. Frank Basta is Killed, 4
Others Missing and 3 Missing.
Wounded in mid summer Staff Sgt. Frank
Basta, 30, of 162 Franklin Street, Plymouth, rejoined his outfit in combat
on September 9 and a month later to the day, was killed in action on the
Western Front. Word of his death was received from the War Department by
his widow, Mrs. Minerva Basta.
The soldier leaves two children, Joan and Frank Jr., and his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Isaac Cron, Rear 166 Franklin
Street, Plymouth. The Purple Heart was awarded to S/Sgt Basta after he
was wounded. He entered the the Army June 6, 1942 and went overseas in
March of this year with an infantry unit. His widow is the former Minerva
Wolfe of Plymouth, Twp.
